I couldn't pick a better date to start my new blog on location stuff on the web today than the day Finish cellphone maker Nokia bought the German web company Plazes as confirmed on the Plazes blog soon after the first reports came in on Twitter.
Even though it might not be too interesting for anyone outside the relatively small circle of web enthusiasts who were still following Plazes' fortune, it is just a small sign of bigger things to come.
With GPS built-in in more and more phones, start-ups like Brightkite and services like Yahoo's Fire Eagle the old (in web years) prophecy of valuable location based services might finally be turning into reality.
And that's what I want to chronicle with this blog.
